FAQ

foXfist Q&A

What is foXfist?

foX is short for "friends of X-training". We are a not-for-profit group of friends based in the South West of the UK, and focused on cross-training martial arts in the broadest sense. This means cross-training things like weapons, bodyguarding, dealing with multiple opponents, martial arts first aid, and a wide range of ancilliary skills in addition to the more typical one-on-one barehand variety of martial arts.

What does the fox represent?

In Japanese mythology, Inari is the goddess of good fortune and the rich bounty and variety that come from nature. Her messengers are foxes (kitsune), so we use the symbol of the fox to represent the breadth of scope and richness of our cross-training.

I'm a complete beginner - is that okay?

Definitely. We want nothing more than to pass on what we learned form our own teachers in a way of saying thanks to them and helping the next generation to learn these wonderful skills. You will find a warm and friendly welcome here.

I'm an experienced martial artist - do I have to start over?

We were originally built by people of different martial arts backgrounds coming together and helping each other to improve. If you have skills, be assured we'll put them to good use. We are the very opposite of arrogant know-it-alls, we want to learn from you as much as you learn from us.

How do I get in contact with you?

Please use the email address on the contact page in the first instance, and don't forget to tell us which area you are in (Cornwall, Devon, Somerset or South Wales) so we can direct the email to the right person.
